Career
Web Developer – Wetink Ltd
I was taken on at Wetink to design an inhouse content management system from scratch to replace the use of an Open Source solution. The CMS was created using OO PHP, a MySQL database and an HTML template system. This allowed sites to be designed and delopyed much more quickly, and also made it much easier for clients to manage their own content compared to the existing system.
As well as designing the CMS, I produced the majority of the XHTML/CSS templates for each of the projects.
Web Developer – Soup Ltd
Norwich, Norfolk. Feb 07 – May 09
My primary role is a clientside developer specialising in valid XHTML and CSS template layouts, utilising javascript and javascript libraries such as jQuery. At my own request, I have expanded this role and taken on more serverside code; mainly object orientated PHP, XML and MySQL. I have taken on a number of research projects, mostly involving different uses for the Google Map API and GPS locations. I have also built from scratch, a working eCommerce solution using the PayPal payments gateway API.
Website Assistant – Gear-Zone Ltd
Norwich, Norfolk. Dec 06 – Feb 07
My role was to maintain an e-shop website (outdoorjungle.com) and update new season stock. The work included:
- Generating various product images with Adobe Photoshop for use on the websites
- Uploading product data via the Actinic eCommerce software package
- Development of a PriceWatch – price comparison PHP script
Salesperson – O2 Ltd

I was a leading salesperson at the Norwich Chapelfields store:
- Extensive knowledge of mobile phones and associated radio communications such as 3G, GPRS and Bluetooth.
- Responsible for mobile phone repairs – documenting and dispatching to Anovo Repairs Centre
Delay Repayment Team – One Railways

A temp position in the Delay Repayment Team:
- Logging customer details into custom database
- Processing repayment vouchers based on delay time
Customer Engagement Co-ordinator – OGC Buying Solutions
Norwich, Norfolk. Aug 05 – Sep 05
My role was to coordinate the meetings and responsibilities of the Customer Liaison Team. I also helped design a local intranet site:
- Organisation of meetings between Customer Liaison Team and suppliers, including transport and booking meeting rooms across the three main
- Developed a Visual Basic script (VBS) from scratch to extract outlook appointments from the team’ Outlook Calendars. The script saved events, meetings and trips into an Excel spreadsheet to provide a centralized plan of where each team member was.
- Designed the basics of a local intranet site containing information about the department, the team members, and the procurement areas each of them were responsible for.
Software Engineer – PerkinElmer Ltd Seer Green, Buckinghamshire.
Jun 03 – Jun 04 Industry placement year.
My role was a software engineer designing and developing object orientated code. Specific tasks included:
- Working within an 8 man team of engineers to develop and release a new major version of the UV WinLab software package.
- Develop object orientated modular code in C++ within the Visual Studio .NET environment Design a serial number checking application from scratch in C++ utilizing RS232 communications
- Design instrument installation steps in C++ with an HTML front end.
- Systems Quality Assurance testing of specific features of the UV WInLab software, including mathematical functions, security logs and instrument accessory operation
- Documentation in Microsoft Word, Bug reporting in Lotus Notes.
